Rolling O Hits AVP in LB

Over the weekend the Rolling Lab made a stop at the AVP in Long Beach, CA. Hundreds of fans as well as about 30 beach volleyball professionals were educated on the power of HDO by touring the lab.

The AVP (association of volleyball professionals) is comprised of the best men’s and women’s pro beach volleyball players in the U.S. and arguably, the world. With only one week till the Olympic Games, the Long Beach Open was the last chance for fans to see Beijing Olympians compete on American sand.

The lab was set up along the boardwalk of Marina Green Park where tons of local foot traffic and bicyclists made their way through over the weekend. The lab crew cranked all the freshest beats keeping the party vibe going all weekend long and drawing in both volleyball fans and other outdoor enthusiasts. Each person who passed through the lab was given a raffle ticket for a pair of thumps that would be raffled off during the women’s final on Sunday that was broadcast live on NBC.

The player’s tent (where athletes chill out and refuel between matches) was nestled right beside the lab. In fact, many athletes ditched the traditional player’s tent for the plush air-conditioned Oakley lounge that accompanies the lab. Olympians Todd Rodgers, Phil Dalhausser, Sean Rosenthal, and Elaine Youngs all made their way through the lab and were impressed by the demonstrations.

During the men’s finals on Saturday afternoon, 30 eyewear cases were thrown out into the crowd by the smoking hot Cuevo girls. In order for fans to redeem their sunglasses, they had to first take a tour of the lab. By this point in the weekend the fans and spectators were buzzing about the lab leaving every other sponsor at the event scratching their heads wondering how and if ever they could be as cool as Oakley.

US Open of Surfing: July 26th (Saturday)

I attended the US Open of Surfing on Saturday. I like to attend this local and annual event for a variety of reasons: the athletes, the sports (surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding), the booths and overall vibe. I make a habit of attending this fun-filled event so I can get athletes to sign items for various charities that I am associated with.

One of my favorite booths happens to be the X-Games booth. You can enter your name into a drawing to be asked a trivia question for free X-Games schawg. I have been going to this booth for a number of years and have always walked away with something, which is THE beauty of this booth. You could also walk with something just by showing your tickets to the X-Games!! How great is that! (p.s. I wanted to give a quick "shout out" to Lisa Hoyle! Thanks again for everything!!)

As far as the names of the winners and overall results are concerned, make sure you log onto Transworld Surf's web site. Here's the link:

This is from an e-mail from one of my contacts at the X-Games:

This year's X Games 14 , going down from July 31-August 3 at the STAPLES Center, features several new extreme sports, including BMX Street, Moto X Best Whip, Women's Moto X Racing, Moto X Speed & Style and BMX and Skateboard SuperPark. You can be there when we kick everything off at our second annual opening night party, BEHIND THE BIG AIR Presented by American Express. In addition to meeting X Games featured athletes and getting an ultra exclusive look at the Big Air practice, you won't want to miss the Skateboard Deck Auction. Famous celebrities, pro athletes and renowned artists have donated their time and talents by painting the skateboards and transforming each one into a one-of-a-kind work of art. Attendees of the BEHIND THE BIG AIR will have an opportunity to take home one of these unique collector's items by being the highest bidder! It's all for charity so you won't want to miss it when we go BEHIND THE BIG AIR on July 30th. Get your specially priced pre-sale tickets below and if you have any questions, just give a call.

As always, thanks for your support!

Last Night's KROQ Street Team Event (With Links to Notable Newspaper Articles Worth Reading)

Hello all! Today is the first day of the Inaugural Maloof Money Cup! Woo woo!

I attended the KROQ Street team event last evening at Sharkeez's in Huntington Beach. There were quite a few fans in attendance. KROQ managed to giveaway tickets to this weekend's event, Comic Con tickets, CD's, movies and an X-Games skateboard deck that Jake Brown autographed himself! The deck was the "coveted" prize of the evening. A lucky female fan won the deck as well tickets.

Obviously, Jake Brown was in the house and everyone was excited to see him. I found him to be very personable and thought he was so gracious to the fans.

Thanks again to KROQ and Sharkeez's!

I can't wait to go to the Maloof Money Cup on Saturday! See you there!

P.S. Here's some reading material for this morning that I thought everyone would enjoy:
