2-TIME OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST MISTY MAY-TREANOR

BRINGS M2 VOLLEYBALL TO HAWAII IN 2011

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (December 21, 2010) --- Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Misty May-Treanor, will stage a series of M2 Volleyball indoor and beach clinics for boys and girls from January 3-7, 2011 on Maui and Oahu. May-Treanor is the founder of M2 Volleyball Camps & Clinics and will host the Hawaii clinics in cooperation with the Aloha Volleyball Club of Maui, and Paulele Volleyball Club of Oahu.

“I am really looking forward to working with all of the young boys and girls who love the sport of volleyball in Hawaii. I’m energized by their love of the game, and am excited to share some of what I have learned over the years with them,” said May-Treanor, who returned recently from the 2010 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Annual Convention where she was a featured beach volleyball clinician and award presenter for the AVCA All-American and Player of the Year Banquet, presented by ZAMST.

The M2 Volleyball Camps & Clinics were founded by May-Treanor in 2010 and made 9 stops in 7 states including Florida, Texas, and North Carolina. M2 Volleyball will make its first stop in Hawaii at Maui’s Kanaha Beach Park on January 3, 2011 (3:00-6:00 p.m. local time) for the only beach session, Seabury Hall on January 4, 2011 (5:00-8:00 p.m. local time), and conclude at Oahu’s Manoa Valley District Park on January 6-7, 2011 (3:00-6:00 p.m. local time). A full clinic schedule and registration can be found online at http://www.mistymay.com/may/store.

Andy Irons (1978-2010)

Son. Brother. Husband. Expectant Father. Friend. Surfer.

One of the legendary surfers, Andy Irons, passed away this week. I, for one, am deeply saddened. I do not swim nor know how to surf. But, I appreciated Irons' athleticism as well as his big heart (on and off the surfboard).

I have a long list of professional athletes that I would like to meet. In October of last year, I got to meet Andy Irons at a signing at an AT&T store in Costa Mesa. I remember getting there very early to secure a place in line and was excited to be first in line.

I had a few items to sign. He asked me quite a few questions as well as answering mine. I ended befriending a few other attendees who were all stoked to meet one of the best surfers in the world.

Andy, thank you for taking the time to be there that day. It was a pleasure meeting you!

I just would like to send my deepest condolences to the Irons family, friends and fans. AI, you will be sorely missed!

Here's a list of articles that pay a tribute to such an inspirational human being:

OrangeCounty.com's Contest to Win Tickets to OC Foodie Fest

You can still win tickets for general admission at this web site:

Monday, August 23, 2010

I entered into a contest for the "OC Foodie Fest" event this Saturday and just found out that I won!!

I just heard via e-mail that my song that I wrote will be on the Everyday Noise page and possibly the OC Foodie Fest page.

Here's the song that I wrote:

The event begins at 11:30 A.M. and make sure (oopsey, I forgot to write this word) you're not late!
If you were not aware,
The money benefits Pretend City and Child Share.
So, attend this event and give to charity..
Because having all these food vendors in one place is a rarity.

With food truck vendors being counted to fifty,
OC Food Fest is just plain nifty!
Here is just a taste of what to expect with Oh For Sweet's Sake, The World Fare is my Nom Nom Truck,
With the Dim Sum Truck, Dan Dan BBQ with room to spare for the Crepes Bonaparte if I have any luck.....
VIPs get the Get Shaved, Komodo, Oh The Taco Dawg Truck, Piaggo on Wheels,
The Sweets Truck and White Rabbit Trucks on also on the VIP deals.

I want it all....
All or nothing!
Fifty trucks..
VIP is fifty bucks....
If you Yelp,
You'll find a winner to help...
For "Best of Fest" award..
This is a night to remember and NOT be bored!

P.P.S. I've got Chris Cole, PRod, Koston, Malto and Billy Marks on my team. I've got Sheckler for the tiebreaker!

Beach Volleyball champion Misty May-Treanor and partner Kerri Walsh captured their second Olympic Gold Medal at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and became the first team ever to repeat as back-to-back champs. Upon her return from the Beijing Games, Misty gladly accepted a role on ABC’s hit-show Dancing with the Stars. Misty was one of the rising talents of Dancing with the Stars until an Achilles injury derailed her shot at the trophy. After undergoing successful surgery, Misty is now back on the sand. She is competing in the 2010 AVP Opens with partner Nicole Branagh, the 2009 AVP MVP. - www.mistymay.com

AVP-=done for 2010

I'm feeling a bit low at the moment since the Association of Volleyball Professionals (A.V.P.) Tour is done for this season. There were supposed to be five events left in the season. But, due to financial difficulties, the A.V.P Tour closed out the season.

Now, the focus is on the 2011 season. I want to be optimistic and say things will get better.

In case you've missed out on the recent volleyball news, I highly suggest you surf on over to BVBinfo.com and/or http://hansstolfus.com.
